Aero is the name for the Windows 7  interface (GUI) and Snap is the feature which resizes windows when you drag them to the edge of a screen.  Personally I like most of the AERO SNAP features but I don’t like the one that kicks in when you drag a Window to the left or right edge of the screen.  However, without a registry entry there is no way to turn off only a part of SNAP, so if you want to get rid of SNAP, this is how you do it:

  1. Click the START button
  2. Type CHANGE HOW YOUR MOUSE WORKS (lower case is fine) in the search bar
    • You can also find this via the CONTROL PANEL, EASE OF ACCESS CENTER, EASE OF USE, CHANGE HOW YOUR MOUSE WORKS, but that is a pain
  3. Check PREVENT WINDOWS FROM BEING AUTOMATICALLY ARRANGED WHEN MOVED TO THE EDGE OF THE SCREEN

Have you found that Subsystem for UNIX (at least in Win7 64 Ver 6,1 7601) won’t work if PC Matic is active? The shell (any of then c, ksh etc.) open for a second, then close! PC Matic isn’t any help (they want things like a screenshot, how do you get one of something that lasts less than a second???) I’ve been fighting this for several years thinking it was one of Microsoft updates but couldn’t ping it down! I stumbled across it by accident, I was loading another PC andand decided to install virus software last as I knew what I was installing. Decided to try Sub for UNIX and IT WORKED! Later I installed PC Matic and it broke! I tried pausing “protection Level” and it worked! At least I can use UNIX again. I started on UNIX and some of the commands are so powerful and can’t be duplicated in Windows. Hope this will help someone else.

    Hi Paul;

    I just don’t have any clients with anything older than Windows 8 at this point and even those are going to Win 10 shortly. Beyond that, I don’t have any clients with PC Matic so I am afraid I can’t be of much assistance here. Sorry.
