To avoid accidental power downs, Samsung has changed the functionality of the power button on their newer phones like the Samsung S22 and S21. Now the power button will power up your Samsung Galaxy, but not power it down. Obviously you will need to power it down from time to time so Samsung has made these four method available:
1 – POWER & VOLUME
- Press AND HOLD both the Power button and the Volume Down for 2 seconds
- Note that if you press both the power and volume buttons for less than two seconds it will take a screen shot
2 – NOTIFICATION PANEL
If you expand the NOTIFICATION PANEL a power button will appear in the menu:
- Swipe down from the top to bring up the Notification Panel
- Swipe down again to expand the Notification Panel
- Press the power icon
3 – BIXBY VOICE COMMAND
- Press the Power Button (which will launch Bixby Voice Assistant)
- Say RESTART MY PHONE
4 – REMAP THE POWER BUTTON TO BE THE POWER BUTTON
- Press AND HOLD both the Power button and the Volume Down for 2 seconds
- Click SIDE KEY SETTINGS
- Set PRESS AND HOLD to POWER OFF MENU
