If you find the IE (Internet Explorer) will not install there are several things to try but I have found the most effective to be:
UNINSTALL THE CURRENT VERSION OF INTERNET EXPLORER:
- CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS AND FEATURES > on the top left click VIEW INSTALLED UPDATES
- Either find INTERNET EXPLORER or just perform a search (top right corner)
- Attempt to UNINSTALL the version you have
RUN SYSTEM FILE CHECKER:
- Run a CMD window using RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
- type SFC /SCANNOW
- wait and reboot as directed
RUN THE MICROSOFT FIX IT TOOL:
- Run the Microsoft Internet Explorer Uninstall Repair Tool from HERE.
- Reboot as directed
- Read and follow the steps in UNINSTALL THE CURRENT VERSION OF IE above
- Reboot as directed
- Download the current Internet Explorer from Microsoft HERE and install it.

After trying EVERY solution on the internet, I finally went back to basics and downloaded all prerequisites from here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2847882/prerequisite-updates-for-internet-explorer-11
and after manually installing every one, ie11 installed the first time. Previously, for some odd reason, the prerequisites were there but some were not……..so finally after 4 days, DUH this works

I had the same problem, but I knew the issue was to do with pre-requisite updates to windows. I unhid the Windows MSRT and installed it then alot of updates became available and then I patched it up and blam was able to update to IE 11.
