The problem is that your Windows registry stores the name of a device in several places but if the name of a device is changed (i.e. by going to COMPUTER, right clicking on the device and selecting RENAME), Windows does not update all of those locations. Fortunately this is easy to fix:
- Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable
- Make sure your device is named what you want in MY COMPUTER: (right clicking on the device and selecting RENAME if you don’t like the name it shows there)
- Start DEVICE MANAGER (click START and type DEVICE or get to it from the Control Panel)
- Find your device under PORTABLE DEVICES, right click on it and select UNINSTALL
- Disconnect your device from your PC (i.e. unplug it from the USB cable)
- Wait 5 seconds
- Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable
- Enjoy!
