Well this was a tricky one. I installed Windows 8 Enterprise and found that my Xbox 360 VIDEO APP would not connect to my Win8 PC… or should I say any of my Win8 PC’s. Very frustrating considering they are all tied together by a Home Group and the Xbox was activated as an Extender to my Media Center machines.
I thought this had to do with authentication. I wanted to figure out how to enter my Windows 8 credentials in Xbox but, as you can see in the screen shots below, the solution was not so dramatic .
On your Windows 8 PC:
- go to the START tiles page
- type MEDIA SH
- select SETTINGS from the menu on the right
- Select MEDIA STREAMING OPTIONS
- Enable sharing with your XBOX

I should help you connect your Xbox to your Windows 8 PC so that you can stream music and video content.

I don’t have media centre, must be a basic version of w8.
How do I connect?
Ian Matthews · May 8, 2013 at 8:01 pm
If you have Windows 8, you have to BUY media center as an addon… see: http://www.urtech.ca/2012/05/solved-where-is-windows-media-center-in-windows-8-and-why-dont-dvds-play/

I would use Media Player Classic or VLC:

I cant find the Xbox like you in the last Picture. why?
Ian Matthews · January 13, 2013 at 5:02 pm
Sorry Melack; I am confused. If you don’t see that error then this article is not for you. The point of it is to explain how to “correct” that problem.

I would have your PC leave the Home Group all together and then try to rejoin it.
