Desktop and Mobile drives (Blue and Green family lines) change from 3 years to 2 years. Black product line will remain at 5 years warranty. Enterprise class products stay at 5 years warranty.

Major Desktop and Mobile products change from 2 years to 1 years and 5 years to 3 years. Most of the Enterprise class product will be reduced warranty period from 5 years to 3 years.

Seagate’s new warranty policies are more complex than the table above suggests. Their Dec. 6th, 2011 announcement about cutting back warranties related to products sold as bare drives (OEM) only. It stated that Seagate’s retail products, e.g. drives sold in boxed kits, and mission critical (e.g. certain enterprise class drives) would not be affected by the new warranty policy.
