If you are a Microsoft Partner and want to use your MS Partner benefits to open a new case, you have to add your Microsoft Partner tech support codes first. This is not hard to do but it is not obvious.

In our case we, in addition to being a Microsoft Partner, we also have the Microsoft Action Pack Subscription which provides us with 10 “free” technical support cases:

How a Microsoft Partner Can Open a New Technical Support Case
  1. Surf to the Microsoft Partner Center and sign in:
    https://partner.microsoft.com/en-us/dashboard/home
  2. Click the BENEFITS tile
  3. Click TECHNICAL SUPPORT & CONSULTATION link from the menu on the left
  4. Click MICROSOFT PRODUCT SUPPORT (or whatever support plan you have with Microsoft)
  5. Get your CONTRACT ID and ACCESS ID
  6. Click the SERVICE PORTAL link
    • If you have never been their before you will be prompted to enter all the usual contact information
  7. Start your new technical support request and when it gets down to the contract section enter the CONTRACT ID and ACCESS ID
    • NOTE:
The Partner Portal gives you the CONTRACT ID and ACCESS ID but Microsoft Technical Support page asks you the enter the ACCESS ID then the CONTRACT ID. In other words, note which field is which when you are entering the information or it will reject you
    • ALSO:
We found ours errored out but if we refreshed the page all was well and our contract had been successfully added
  8. Complete the technical support case creation process and have a nice day
