On the weekend we had a customer who was trying to remove one of their Microsoft Office 365 activations (which we have instructions for here), but instead they deactivating their laptop completely:
They user disabled their computer by:
- Signing into https://portal.office.com
- Clicking their icon in the top right corner and selecting VIEW ACCOUNT
- Clicking DEVICES
- Expanding the DEVICE in question, in this case, their laptop
- Clicking the DISABLE THIS DEVICE
To undo this mistake and administrator needs to reenable the device by:
- Logging into https://portal.azure.com
- Going to MICROSOFT ENTRA ID
- Expanding MANAGE and clicking DEVICES
- Type in the host name of the computer and click on the one you want
- Click the ENABLE button
In this screenshot, you can see the ENABLE button is grayed out because this device was already enabled.

Hopefully that makes sense to you.
