SOLVED: Command to Determine the Name of the Server Hosting a Mapped Drive

Yesterday we had a client with a large number of servers that was unable to locate the server was hosting their Q:\ drive.

You can use the NET USE command in Command Prompt to determine the name of the server hosting the Q:\ mapped drive. Here’s how you can do it:



  1. Open a Command Prompt, PowerShell or Windows Terminal
  2. Type net use Q:
  3. Enjoy!
