There are many times, especially when using scripts, that you may need to know the fully qualified path to an Active Directory Organizational Unit. The problem really comes in when an OU is buried under other OU’s, some of which may have spaces in their names.

- Launch Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC)
- Click VIEW (menu at top)
- Click ADVANCED FEATURES
- In ADUC, find the OU you are interested in
- Right click on the OU and select PROPERTIES
- Click the ATTRIBUTE EDITOR tab
- Look for the DISTINGUISHEDNAME attribute
- Note that you can double click on that field and copy the entry
