When researching the error message below I found several websites making references to GUpdate as a virus. It is not.
Eventsource: Windows System Event Log
Windows Event ID: 10005
Message: DCOM got error “1053” attempting to start the service gupdate with arguments “/comsvc” in order to run the server:
GUpdate is simply the services that gets kicked off periodically to check for and manage updates to Google software like Google Earth Pro.
The service notes actually state:
Keeps your Google software up to date. If this service is disabled or stopped, your Google software will not be kept up to date, meaning security vulnerabilities that may arise cannot be fixed and features may not work. This service uninstalls itself when there is no Google software using it.
