If you have enabled two factor authentication and/or reCaptcha in Wordfence but can no longer sign in because:
VERIFICATION REQUIRED: Additional verification is required for login. Please check the email address associated with the account for a verification link.
AND/OR
The 2FA Code Could Not Be Validated. Please Try Logging In Again
The solution is:
- to use and FTP program like FileZilla to get into your WordPress site
- rename to the WP-CONTENT > PLUGINS > WORDFENCE folder to anything else, like xxxWORDFENCE
- then sign into your WordPress site through the browser
- Note that you may have to refresh you login page to flush the previous attempts
- Once you have successfully logged in via the browser, use you FTP program rename to the WP-CONTENT > PLUGINS > WORDFENCE folder back to WORDFENCE
- refresh your browser and the WORDFENCE menu will re-appear
- Note that you may have to do this more than once to get WORDFENCE to appear
- Expand WORDFENCE > LOGIN SECURITY and disable Two Factor Authentication
