SOLVED: How to Export Telnet Output To a File Using Putty

I f you need to send someone the output of a Telnet command the easiest way to accomplish it is to use the free Putty.exe client:

  1. Download PUTTY.EXE from HERE if you do not already have it.
  2. Launch Putty and click SESSION > LOGGING (on the left)
  3. Select ALL SESSION OUTPUT
  4. Select SESSION
  5. Type in the IP address of the device you want to connect to
  6. Select TELNET
  7. Click OPEN
  8. enter all of the commands you want and then open PUTTY.LOG to confirm the output is as you expected

I used this to export SHOW TECH data from a Dell Switch.
